Morrow's Academy of Martial Arts gave away checks for $1,700 each to The Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities and Kids Against Hunger. The $3,400 was raised at John Morrow's "Push-Ups for Peace" fundraiser May 1at St. Ambrose University. The fundraiser capitalized on Morrow's well-known push-up theme and involved 40 men, women and youth, who each attempted as many push-ups as they could perform in an hour. Each participant found sponsors who pledged a voluntary monetary sum per push-up. Morrow's Push-Ups for Peace gathering also attempted to set a world record for the most pushups by a group of people in one place in an hour. Morrow executed 2,100 push-ups on the back of his hands in the hour, and submitted the appropriate documentation to Guinness World Records hoping to garner yet another world record. Morrow currently holds the world record for 123 push-ups on the backs of his hands in one minute. Morrow runs an "Hour of Power" every Friday at noon for anyone who wishes to participate in performing pushups to music for fun.
